Mildred Coleman, 63, of Greasy Creek, died Sept. 2.

Born Jan. 3, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Omer "Buster" and Marie Powell Hopkins.

She was retired from Pikeville Medical Center, where she worked as a coder from Jan. 27, 1992 until April 16, 2001.

Survivors include her loving husband, Marley Coleman; her children, Karen (Doug) DeRossett, Shelley (Tom) McGuire and Chad (Andrea) Kendrick; her stepchildren, Jeanette Coleman and Matthew Coleman; three sisters, four brothers, six grandchildren and other family members.

To her family and friends, she lived as a "great example of true human kindness."

Funeral services were  held Wednesday, Sept. 5, at Thacker Memorial Funeral Home. Internment followed at the Annie E. Young Cemetery with members of her beloved neighbors, the Casebolt family, and family members serving as pallbearers.

Helen Baldwin Francis
, 88, of Canada, died Aug. 28. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Baldwin Jr.; her second husband, Twyman Francis and other family members.
