John Michael Poe, 36, of Blue River, died July 28. He was born May 2, 1976, the son of Johnny Andrew and Joyce Ann Bradford Poe of Blue River. He was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Flannery, who died May 14, and other family members. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his companion Sherri Stevenson; siblings Jamie Poe of Blue River and Sherry Helton of Salyersville; nephews Ryan Tyler Flannery, Chase Matthew Flannery, Jonathan Blake Poe; nieces Laken Cheyenne Helton and Taylor Ann Poe and other family members and friends. Funeral services were held Aug. 1 at Nelson Frazier Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Bradford Cemetery, Blue River.

Reba Carol Hatfield Gardner, 66, of Pikeville, widow of Daniel E. Gardner, died July 25. Survivors: sons Eddy Gardner of Pikeville, Rodney Gardner of Prestonsburg; other family members. Funeral: July 28 at Nelson Frazier Funeral Home. Burial: Gethsemane Gardens, Prestonsburg.

Dallas Freeman,
88, of Auxier, widower of Marcelline King Freeman, died July 27. Survivors: daughters Lillian Smiderle of Texas, Rosalie Freeman, Elizabeth Greer and Teresa J. Moore, all of Lexington; other family members. Funeral: July 31 at Nelson Frazier Funeral Home. Burial: Richmond Cemetery, Prestonsburg

Tara Suzette Jervis Boyd,

Belvia M. Howell, 89, of Prestonsburg, widow of Davie Howell, died July 26. Funeral: July 30 at Hall Funeral Home. Burial: Akers & Music Cemetery, Bonanza, under the direction of Hall Funeral Home

Bennie Hall,
63, of Virgie, died July 26. He a maintenance supervisor at Pikeville Methodist Hospital, now Pikeville Medical Center, from Feb. 24, 1975, until April 21, 1994. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Della Johnson Hall; three brothers: Carl Hall, Espee Hall, Darling Hall and his sister, Geneive Johnson. Survivors include his wife Elanar Johnson Hall and siblings Roy (Linda) Hall, Glenna (Verion) Vanover, both of Virgie. Funeral services were held July 30 at Hall & Jones Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Ben Johnson Cemetery, Virgie.

Zelda Reynolds Bertrand, 87, of Mouthcard, widow of James Robert Bertrand, died July 17. Survivors: daughters Donna C. Bertrand, Jean K. Bertrand Bottom, Anita L. Howard Mullins, 85, of Pikeville, widower of Madge Irene Adkins Mullins, died July 23. He served in the army during World War II. Survivors: sons Gerald Mullins of Pikeville, Shane Mullins of Tennessee; stepsons Grady Coleman, Bub Coleman, both of Pikeville; other family members. Clarence Carr

Billy Harold Tackett, 76, of Beefhide, died July 19. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Larry A. Dove, 57, of Pikeville, died July 18. Survivors: wife Joan Trimble; children Larry A. Pat Keene II, 47, of Las Vegas, NV, died July 22. He was  a member of the Nevada National Guard and a Veterans Administration Hospital medic. Survivors: parents Larry D. and Judith A. Samuel Pete Lee

Cleatus Foster Cisco, 62, of North Matewan, W.Va., died July 23. He was a Matewan police officer. Survivors: spouse Sevenius Herald Cisco; other family members. In honoring Cleatus' request, he will be cremated. No services will be held. Hatfield Funeral Home handled his cremation.
