Charles E. Lowe Sr.

1921-2014

PIKEVILLE - Pike County lost a dedicated public servant last week.

Former Pike County Circuit Judge Charles E. Lowe, widower of Virginia Stamper Lowe, died July 25, at the age of 92.

Lowe, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans.

An attorney, he served as Pike County Circuit Judge from 1964 to 1970.

He was born August 28, 1921, the son of the late Nora Smith and Langley Lowe.

Survivors include his son Charles E. (Linda) Lowe Jr.; his sister, Emogene Riley of Michigan; two grandchildren: Christina Lowe Amburgey and Dr. Charles E. Lowe III; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held July 28 at J.W. Call Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Stamper Family Cemetery in Coal Run.

Edward Lee Leedy, 89, of Betsy Layne, died July 23. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II. Survivors: sister Cleo Thomas of Belleview, Mich.; other family members.
